Fort Wayne Dance Collective is the proud host of Dances of Universal Peace. We hold monthly circles, host internationally renowned facilitators, and conduct a yearly weekend that attracts dancers from all over the country. This months theme will be: Co-Creating a Culture of Compassion
We have the power to co-create a culture governed by Compassion, Wisdom & Love! We can move beyond the limits formed by our individual and collective fears that cause us to hold back the infinite Compassion, Wisdom & Love within us. With body, soul, mind and heart engaged, we cultivate a culture of compassion and wisdom, love, harmony and beauty on Earth.
The movement and songs used in Dances of Universal Peace are drawn from over 400 dances including themes of peace, healing of the Earth, individuals, and the global family, and the celebration of life’s great mysteries. Dancers focus on peace and harmony creating a sense of solidarity and community while celebrating the underlying unity of all the spiritual traditions of the earth.
This is a participatory community dance, and no prior training or experience is necessary. Dances consist of simple dance steps and lyrics, and learning continues during the dance. The end goal is not for public performance, but rather for creating community, peace, joy, and spirituality.
On the second Saturday of the month, FWDC holds a monthly circle at the FWDC studios. It is a great time for local dancers to meet, share food, stories, and experiences while creating a community of dancers. Grab a friend and join us! This event is fragrance free.
SAVE THE DATE: Next dance will be held on the first Saturday April 5, rather than the usual second Saturday.
