Presenting the Joe Goode Performance Group, April 18!
Last year, you saw Black Grace, a contemporary dance company from New Zealand, perform at the Arts United Center. The year before that, it was the Urban Bush Women from Brooklyn.

Get ready for a treat as Fort Wayne Dance Collective continues its yearly guest artist series with the JOE GOODE PERFORMANCE GROUP, a San Francisco-based dance/theatre group, on April 18, 2009! JGPG will perform its brand-new piece, Wonderboy, a collaboration with acclaimed puppet designer Basil Twist and acclaimed composer/musicians Carla Kihlstedt and Matthias Bossi, as well as Maverick Strain, a deconstruction of Arthur Miller’s screenplay The Misfits.

From joegoode.org:

Wonderboy is an unexpected tale of a peculiar hero isolated by his gift of sensitivity and an intuitive knack that sets him apart from others. He feels small and distant, an outsider with his nose pressed against the glass, but in truth he has enormous power — to see and perceive and even to heal with his gently demeanor.

The Joe Goode Performance Group lecture-demonstration will feature excerpts from their extraordinary new work, Wonderboy. The five company members will perform selections of Wonderboy and talk about partnering and tumbling, puppetry, how you dance with a puppet, how you combine singing and dancing in the same work, how songs get made.

JGPG’s residency will include events in conjunction with a Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s “See Me” workshop series, designed for youth to discover their identity through creative writing, movement, and language.

For more information, visit fwdc.org, joegoode.org, or contact FWDC Managing Director Andy Welfle.

This residency is made possible in part by funding from Lincoln Financial Foundation, Arts Midwest, the Indiana Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne.http://www.joegoode.orgWelcome_to_FWDC%21.htmlhttp://www.joegoode.orgmailto:andy@fwdc.org?subject=Joe%20Goode!shapeimage_9_link_0shapeimage_9_link_1shapeimage_9_link_2shapeimage_9_link_3
