I can no longer attend a class I registered for. What is your refund policy?
Refunds cannot be given except for the following reasons:
• Injury
• Illness
• Change in schedule that conflicts with class times.
FWDC recognizes that there are other reasons why students may not be able to take a class, and credits are often available.
Credits are to be used within a year of issue, and can be applied to the following:
• Another class for student or family member/friend
• Ticket price for concert admission
• FWDC merchandise
Please speak with FWDC office staff for more information.
Why don't you offer tap or clogging?
There are several types of dancing that involves wearing shoes that will scratch our unsealed sprung wood floor. Our studios are not current equipped for these types of dancing. We'll be happy to refer you to a studio that offer the classes you need.
Why can't my child go immediately into ballet?
Our school offers a wide variety of dance classes, from modern to ballet, from belly to ballroom. But before children can explore these specific genres, we expose them to various creative movement and technique classes first. That way, their movement vocabulary will be better developed, and they can move across different disciplines easily. That’s the mark of a good dancer.
What should I (or my child) wear for classes?
Generally, you want to wear something that is comfortable to move around in. We don't require our students to wear uniforms. For dance class, many students wear leotards, though some wear t-shirts and sweat shorts. As long as your clothing doesn't hinder your movement (no jeans, stiff shirts, etc.), you should be fine. Most classes require students to be barefoot in the studio. If this is a problem, let your instructor know.
Are there any other fees other than the tuition to attend classes?
The only other fee associated with classes is a registration fee — $10 for new students, and $5 per year after that before the fall semester of classes. Unlike many commercial dance studios, we don't charge for costumes or require merchandise purchase from parents or students?
