Beginning Modern Dance Improvisation and Techniques

This class is designed for the beginning dancer to learn how their body moves most efficiently using basic movement fundamental patterns and across-the-floor techniques. Some improvisation will be included.

Continuing  Modern Technique

A brief warm-up followed by exercises based on various modern dance techniques designed to strengthen the core muscles, and study of detailed combinations aimed to develop performance quality.  For the experienced dancer.

Continuing Modern Technique and Improv

This class will provide a safe environment to develop your movement skills while applying them in creative improvisational scores. Previous experience required.

Exploring Movement

This class will include improvisation based on inspiration from music, visual arts and movement. Improvisations will lead to creating short movement studies. For students with some dance experience.

Modern Dance for Kids

A joyful dance class learning basic technique while having fun creating your own special movements.

Adult Ballet

This class teaches ballet technique, basic positions, barre work, across-the-floor combinations and terminology from a contemporary perspective.

Belly Dance

The ancient art of this Middle Eastern dance builds flexibility, strength, rhythm and expression. Students will learn rhymes and movements from Turkish, Egyptian and American traditions.

Improvisational Belly Dance

This class will focus on overcoming students’ fears of improvisational belly dance to create  compelling movements without choreography. For students who have completed Beginning and Continuing Belly Dance. Students will need a journal and pen for each class.

Yoga

Students will be guided through Iyengar yoga. Classes study body postures and proper breathing.

T’ai Chi

This Chinese movement form improves balance, focus, coordination and relaxation.

Pilates Mat & Toning

This exercise, created by Joseph Pilates, develops strength, endurance, flexibility, breathing, energy and body control. This class is not appropriate for pregnant women and those with osteoporosis.

Movement Fundamentals

The content for this class is based on the work of Irmgard Bartienieff, designed to increase your physical intelligence.  Most of the exercises are done laying on the floor and are based on the developmental patterns of infants.

Taiko Drumming

Drummers learn rhythms with sticks using choreographed arm movements and/or while dancing from drum to drum in this ancient Japanese tradition.

Music Together®

This program is a music and movement approach to early childhood music development for infants through kindergartners and their primary caregiver.
