If you came by the office this week and no one was here it’s because we weren’t there.

Managing Director Jarin Hart was in Portland Oregon at a National Arts Marketing Conference (plus some much needed vacation time). Outreach Director Alison Gerardot was at Parkview Hospital starting up the Healing Arts Program and I was traveling around teaching at Easter Seals ARC, Bi-County Services and A Day Away Adult Daycare as well as checking out the new Blackbox Theatre on Main Street still under construction. I also spent a couple hours in the basement of our building gathering costumes for Nuts and Crackers Performance on December 15. Time to pull out those Santa hats!

But let’s focus for a moment on the Healing Arts Program at Parkview. I took a short tour with Alison to see the program in action as our artists went room to room sharing their particular art form. Beth with her drums, Diane with art supply and Steve and Kate with movement.  These are just a few of the artists…there are more! The nurses on the floor couldn’t be more excited to see their patients receiving this special kind of medicine that doesn’t involve drugs or needles.

I can’t wait to hear the many stories that will come out of this wonderful new collaboration with Parkview Health.
