Outreach
Bringing the joy of expression into the community
Fort Wayne Dance Collective has served this community for more than 30 years and has developed and perfected a blend of multi-arts and multicultural outreach programs designed to fit the needs and interests of children, youth and adults.
Below is a list of our fun and educational programs that will further enhance your curriculum, assist you in achieving many academic standards and will be greatly enjoyed by your students!
Movement and Dance
FWDC offers classes in creative movement, modern and ethnic dance, yoga, t’ai chi and more. Our classes are designed to combine the mastery of movement with the artistry of expression. Through this fine blend your students will learn movement and performing skills, as well as develop their creativity, appreciation for the arts and overall potential.
Wellness
FWDC believes strongly in the concept of wellness and helping others achieve wellness through rhythm, movement and language. We offer classes in Iyengar yoga, T’ai Chi Chuan, movement fundamentals, restorative yoga, with more classes to come in the near future.
Multi-arts
It is the FWDC mission to present inter- and multi-disciplinary art programs of the highest quality. We live up to this commitment by offering classes in Taiko drumming, T’ai Chi Chuan, Belly Dance and other classes that offer a rich cultural experience.
Specialty classes
FWDC can design classes or workshops for specific needs- based on particular subject such as literature, math, science, geography and many more. Just ask! We also serve special populations, such as people with physical and mental challenges and seniors. We work extensively with youth placed at-risk through the Identity Bridge project. Fort Wayne Dance Collective has received national recognition for this program through National Endowment for the Arts funding.
Books Alive/Dancing Through the Pages
The FWDC’s Touring Company, a four member artistic group of regional dancers, perform a 45 minute program entitled “Books Alive” which combines dance and children’s literature to emphasize the importance and excitement of reading. These program has been performed with enthusiastic popularity and success in over 150 elementary schools and libraries in Indiana, Missouri and Oklahoma over the past 11 years!
A Village Beyond/An Asian Celebration

The FWDC Touring Company also features an interactive 45-minute program called “A Village Beyond.” This performance celebrates Asian culture and the Japanese traditions of Taiko drumming and Haiku poetry along with the Chinese movement form of T’ai Chi Chuan. This program is appropriate for grades preschool-12.
