Take me out to the ballgame….

Don’t miss the FWDC this Friday, May 11 at 7pm at the Fort Wayne Tincaps game as we show the video of Johnny Tincap learning to dance at the FWDC during National Dance Week! We will be working the Fort Wayne Dance Collective booth before, and during the game this Friday, as well as debuting the video on the big screen. We hope you’ll join us in laughing…I mean cheering Johnny on during his crash course in Dance 101. (Truth be told, we taught the Bad Apple Dancers a thing or two as well.) Stop by our booth a pick up a new Summer class schedule, sign up for our newsletter, or just say hello! We hope to see you all there! If you can’t make the game, we will be posting the video on our website and Facebook page in the near future.

Don’t miss this hilarious…err, educational video!

Modern dance inspired by science

One of my favorite blogs, Boing Boing (“a directory of Wonderful Things”) recently highlighted a great video featuring a modern dance piece that is based on principles of fluid dynamics, which are the physics that predict the movement of liquids and gasses.

Dancer Hope Goldman worked in collaboration with visual artist Andrew Moffat to create this piece. What’s amazing to me is that this was created with a $40 webcam, some cheap software, and a projector.

Take a look, I hope you like it as much as I did!
