Greetings! What a wonderful time of year as the weather changes and you can feel the holidays just around the corner. We are excited to unveil the new schedule for Winter/Spring 2016! I think you will be delighted to discover the many new options Fort Wayne Dance Collective is offering to enhance your dance life.  You will find that the wonderful programs which have proven to be staples in many of your lives (i.e. Music Together®, hip hop, Taiko drumming, Iyengar yoga, Creative Movement and more!) will continue as usual.

I am thrilled that we are able to triple the amount of ballet and modern classes we offer this Winter/Spring allowing more opportunities to train and build your technique with us in a safe and supportive environment.

Going back to the roots  and spirit of the Collective, we are now offering OPEN IMPROV JAMS several times a week.  This experimental, guided class is crucial to the creative development of new work and emerging choreographers.  It will be a safe place to play and develop new ideas, or just MOVE!  I hope you will try one of these Improv Jams to experience how far your imagination and physicality can go!

Our Dance Sampler program has been re-imagined into a simplified program of Ballet Basics and Modern Basics. Young students will now have an opportunity to grow in our program based upon their level of experience in classes that are fun and challenging in a nurturing way.  Another exciting feature of the new schedule allows for a student to take three to four classes in a row on any given week day that are in-line with their level of experience. For example, on a Thursday you could begin with morning yoga and come back in the afternoon to take Theatre Jazz, Ballet, and GROOV3™ or HEELS consecutively.

For those who wish to study Ballet and/or Modern, you will be able to take the same level class at least twice a week, and build upon your training with more consistency. This new schedule is designed to sustain our current successful programs, while offering an inspiring selection of new classes at a variety of class days and times. We hope that by expanding our class offerings it will  inspire and empower our students, regardless of age or ability, and provide an opportunity to train in preparation for the professional performance opportunities, which will be available soon.

The Fort Wayne Dance Collective will continue to offer something for everyone — from that person who uses dance as a hobby, to the person whose objective is to have a professional career in the performing arts. This is a place for choreographers to experiment and take risks in a safe environment. The possibilities at FWDC are endless and I encourage you to take a careful look at our new schedule and register for more than one class. Invest in a variety of classes and experience how dancing on a more frequent basis will strengthen your mind, body, spirit, and artistic soul. We hope to have the full class listing on the website and open registration before Thanksgiving. Keep an eye on fwdc.org/dance and the FWDC FaceBook page!

See you in the studio!
