BOARD MEMBER

Anne Merritt joined the Board of Fort Wayne Dance Collective (FWDC) in April 2023, bringing a parent’s unique perspective to the table. As the mother of a long-time dance student at FWDC, Anne has seen firsthand how the organization goes beyond teaching dance technique. Her daughter’s journey with FWDC has fostered personal growth in many areas of life, including her involvement in the Pineapple Dance Project and participation in Choreographer’s Lab for three consecutive years.

In her professional life, Anne works at The MINDCAP Center as a Certified Feuerstein Mediator, where she helps learners of all ages and abilities enhance their thinking skills. She is passionate about supporting individuals in their cognitive growth, much like how FWDC nurtures personal development through the arts.

Anne is also a writer and illustrator of children’s books, focusing on underrepresented themes such as adoption, allergies, and special needs. She believes that all children deserve to see characters in books with whom they can deeply relate, and her work aims to provide that representation.

Anne strongly believes in the transformative power of movement arts and is a passionate advocate for the positive, inclusive, and caring environment that FWDC provides. She is committed to supporting FWDC’s mission to enrich lives through the arts and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from its welcoming community.
