Discover how to shape the mood, focus, and visual storytelling of dance performances through lighting. Diane will cover foundational techniques and creative approaches to enhance choreography with light.
Diane Gaby is a versatile freelance artist and technical director based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a career spanning commercial, not-for-profit, and private sectors. She earned her degree from the University of Saint Francis, where she studied illustration, computer graphics, and printmaking, with advanced coursework in drawing, painting, and photography. Certified as a Master Technician by Fort Wayne Civic Theatre in 1999, Diane has since built a wide-ranging career in the arts. She has served as Technical Director and Lighting Designer for Fort Wayne Dance Collective since 2007 and is also a member of their Parkview Healing Arts team. In addition, she is Assistant Director of the University of Saint Francis SOCA Jesters, leading outreach programs with schools and community organizations throughout the region. Diane also conducts private art sessions in partnership with local therapists, integrating creativity into personal healing. Her summer work includes serving as Technical Director and Lighting Designer for Battery Dance Studio in New York City, where she traveled to Germany in 2017 to support Dancing to Connect for Refugees. She also collaborates with David LaChapelle Studio on exhibition projects as a visual artist. Through her multifaceted work, Diane continues to enrich the artistic landscape both locally and internationally.
