In April of this year, the Fort Wayne Dance Collective will once again offer a Choreographers Lab Performance, which gives local movement artists the opportunity to present their work. There is no particular theme to follow and we encourage experimentation and collaborations.  The process is simple.  Those individuals who are interested in presenting a performance piece complete a Proposal Form by February 7 to the FWDC Artist Panel who reviews the applications. As long as we are able to produce the idea, it will be approved for the performance on April 12th and/or 13th in the FWDC Elliot Studio Theatre. Choreographers choose their own dancers and FWDC supports the process through rehearsal space and in some cases provide a mentor to help new choreographers with their creations.  It is a fabulous opportunity to take those crazy or not-so-crazy ideas that have been floating around in your brain and bring them to life.

We believe that there is an artist in each person, and if choreography is a passion or something that you have been wanting to pursue, then this is your opportunity. On January 25, from 1:00-3:30 we are offering a Choreographers Toolbox Workshop taught by Kate Majorins to help you on your way!

The Choreographers Lab is much like a movement art gallery where there is room for variety. Bring on those dances that are comical, abstract, serious and ridiculous!
