Lori Keys worked for a time for the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, teaching classes and just being a general lover of dance. She has obviously gone on to do great things for the community with the Fort Wayne Trails.

About a month or so ago, when Lori and I met over coffee, she asked if the Fort Wayne Dance Collective would be interested and willing to help with the One Billion Rising event. Aside from sending instructors her way, I didn’t really have any brilliant ideas of how we might get involved except this: I will help spread the word. Maybe you’ve heard of One Billion Rising, or maybe this is a totally new idea to you, but either way, here is all the information you need.

On February 14 (next Thursday), between noon and 1 pm, everyone will gather at Parkview Field for this international movement called One Billion Rising. One Billion Rising is a movement that is inviting one billion women and those who love them to walk out of their daily lives, dance and rise up to end violence against women on a global level. We will all dance together to create attention and awareness for atrocities near and far against the women we love and FWDC encourages EVERYONE to attend.

Take a moment to watch this interview with Lori Keys discussing this event on Monday Morning Jolt.

You can learn more about this event and RSVP to attend HERE.

We can’t wait to see all of our friends and families on Valentine’s Day for this worthy and dance-filled cause!
