I just finished my fall Bi-County Services residency in Bluffton with their holiday performance music and dance program December 9, which is always a good time! You can see by the joyous expressions on the faces of these awesome performers that they were excited to share their love of dance with the audience! The standing ovation was a nice touch.
All of us at the FWDC geared up for the storm of an audience that flowed into South Side High School auditorium Thursday, December 11 for “The River of Live” performance. Instructors Brittney Coughlin and Kelly Holt out did themselves once again by bringing together dancers from North Side, South Side, Wayne, Homestead, Carroll and Wayne High Schools with Memorial Park Middle School and Weisser Park Elementary School! Kelly Holt says their focus this semester has been to “go with the flow,” and the evening ended with 260 dancers moving with the gentle flow of T’ai Chi Chuan! Attendance for this show was over 700 people!
We caught our breath just in time for the Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s annual Nuts and Crackers show Sunday, December 14, also at South Side High School Auditorium. The program was full of variety from the Elf Pose to the Clause Family Vacation, hip hop pieces that never ceased to bring you out of your seat along with some very sentimental pieces with traditional holiday music.
One new element this year at the South Side concerts was the addition of a marley dance floor. All the dancers loved it and it certainly improved the look of the shows. We hope you’ll sign up to take a workshop or a class this winter/spring and we hope to see you soon. Happy Holidays!
