I’m Hazel Fuller and I am an intern at Fort Wayne Dance Collective. During my time at Fort Wayne Dance Collective, I have met many awesome people and had great experiences. For the first few weeks of my internship, I archived videos and photos of performances. The videos were fairly tedious. Some didn’t have sound to accompany the audio. Most of my time was spent sliding photographs into binder sleeves. Jarin, the Managing Director and one of my bosses, is a very kind and understanding person. She was willing to slow things down if that’s what I needed at the time. Cassie, the Administrative Assistant is a very easy person to talk to. She and Jarin showed me how to work the Collective’s website. John, the Artistic Director is my other boss. He’s very fun and caring. He encourages us to eat healthy and exercise. He also talked me into taking the GROOV3™ class at the Collective, which is a hip-hop class, but it feels more like Zumba. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go to the next class!
When Valentine’s Day was approaching, I helped set up a party for the staff and dancers. I brought my friend to the party with me and we had a great time. She even said that she was going to consider dance as a new interest. I attended a performance by AXIS Dance Company with the Collective and the performance was phenomenal. A few days before the performance, there was a workshop lead by AXIS at Turnstone that I attended. It was a lot of fun to get to know new and different people. Working with all these amazing people, has been a wonderful opportunity, and I’d do it again if I had the chance. In the last couple weeks of my internship, I hope to have more fun and leave the Fort Wayne Dance Collective on a good note.
