I started logging the videotape for last weeks concert today. I love this part. I get to relive the whole concert, relish in every fun moment and better yet, I can fix trouble spots with the click of my mouse. If something went wrong on performance night, I can pull footage from the dress rehearsal. I learned this lesson well in June 2010 when our concert, The Kings Curse, was abruptly stopped at the end before we did bows. Seven funnel clouds had been sighted over Fort Wayne and the staff at the Arts United Center came backstage and said, “Stop the show! Get everyone to the basement!”
The audience was about to erupt into the final applause and I had to go out and tell them what was going on. About 300 cell phones came on simultaneously. I had choreographed a really cool bow that I kept hoping we could come back to, but it wasn’t to be. When there was a break in the weather, we sent everyone home as fast as we could. A night I’ll never forget. But, I had the bow from dress rehearsal on tape and I was able to get my ending thrill through the editing process.
Hopefully the DVD will be finished in a few week and you can relieve the story of The Lost Balloon as well.
