We are just two weeks away from our spring guest artist residency with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company! The master class with DCDC dancer, Lamoi Leon, filled up very fast and we were able to add an additional class on Friday, March 20 from 4:30-6pm with DCDC dancer Amy Jones! Over the last 35 years I have had the privilege of studying with so many gifted teachers. Just dancing in a class filled with energized souls is enough to fill you for a long time. I also love the anticipation, as you never quite know what to expect from a guest teacher, and if you can’t keep up, you just fake it. The combination looks something like this, and maybe I’ll ask the person next to me who does have the combination, “what count is that on?”, “or which way do we turn?” It all really is just about having a fun shared experience with dancers you might not know, gathering new perspectives and feeling a smile on your face at the end. Also, when you are watching the performance Saturday, March 21st at the Arts United Center, you’ll know one dancer a little more than the others. Looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces in the studio!
